ADVANCEMENT: requirements information now available in online videos

There are a lot of advancement changes this year, so wanted to make sure everyone saw them. One thing to note is that the BSA has brought back 4 MBs from the archives just for this year: Carpentry, Pathfinding, Signaling, and Tracking. There are special badges for these, but they do count just like other MBs.

There are some upcoming merit badge opportunities.  The theme for September is Athletics and there are a few merit badges that revolve around this theme.  One, Personal Fitness, is an Eagle required merit badge and takes 90 days to complete, so it's good to start soon.  Another is Athletics, which is a pretty straight forward one for all out our guys involved in sports to get (and even those who are not involved in sports).

Some other badges that we have counselors for and are straight forward are:
Personal Management (Eagle required)
Communications (Eagle required)
Family Life (Eagle required)
Cit in the Community (Eagle required)
Cit in the Nation (Eagle required)
Cit in the World (Eagle required)
Camping (Eagle required)
Emergency Preparedness (Eagle required)
Reading
Scholarship
Disabilities Awareness
Chemistry
Energy
Cooking
American Heritage

Easy to use worksheets can be found at the US Scouting Service Project web site (http://www.usscouts.org/usscouts/meritbadges.asp).  Please see Mr. Kingsborough for a blue card if you would like to start any of these badges.  He recommends Personal Fitness, Personal Management and Family Life ones, since they all have 90 day requirements. He also recommends Athletic, Scholarship and the Citizenships once school starts.
